Grow

Grow

Scottish Storytelling Centre

This is a simple story about a slightly clueless gardener who agrees to look after his friend’s allotment whilst they are on holiday. With the help of the audience and some puppet friends (the bees, a bird and a hedgehog) the enthusiastic gardener manages to grow a sunflower.

It’s a cute and neatly designed set and an intimate feel with a small audience sat on cushions on the floor, or chairs round the edge of the room. Definitely aimed at little ones, there is lots of audience engagement and the one person show is cheerful and captures the kids’ attention.  There were lots of giggles and not too much squirming!

We enjoyed singing the songs and my 3 year old was very happy to be given some seeds to take home at the end.

My mini reviewer said: “I liked the bees and the bird” and “I’ll grow my sunflower seeds next spring!”
