Underbelly

From the very start this show packed a punch, the energy was high and we were excited to hear fantastic storytelling adventures of the noble Baron. 

Underbelly Dexter was perfect for creating a cosy and intimate setting amidst the hustle and bustle of Edinburgh festival. This was ideal for getting everyone involved and our mini-reviewer loved participating as Hubert the Giant. 

It’s so tricky to decide which adventure to retell but the nose picking stick came in extra handy for choosing one of the many postcards from the Baron with the help of the audience directing ‘higher, lower..go right!’. The excitement of not knowing the twists and turns and what direction the audience was going to take the story in, made it all the more hilarious. 

We listened intently to the Baron’s adventures of midsummer 1684 and how it became of him selling sea shells on the sea shore. The storytellers were excellent at adapting to the unexpectedness’s of improvised storytelling. 

This was an hour well spent with lots of laugh out loud moments and silliness. The show finished with the storytellers inviting the audience to come back another day for some different stories, and we are very tempted indeed !
