Underbelly
Sparkles, science and silliness. We absolutely LOVED this show!
Hugo’s Rainbow Show is a must see for all rainbow loving little kids who enjoy stories, songs and dazzling costumes. Hugo is fantastic at engaging the audience with their magical energy. They take the time to meet every child as they come into the show, and again after. There is plenty of audience interaction if you want it, but equally no pressure if you don’t. This show definitely exceeded my expectations, especially as it had the added bonus of being educational, but in a very age-appropriate way. We were all taken on a wonderful story telling journey to meet each of the weather elements that make up a rainbow. After each chapter, Hugo transformed into a new weather character and performed a super catchy and beautifully written song to go alongside it. I would also say that overall, this really is quite a gentle show, and so it would also suit kids who find a lot of the more intense kids fringe shows a bit overwhelming.
My mini reviewer (who’s almost 3), was captivated throughout and wouldn’t stop talking about Hugo for the rest of the day. Luckily all his songs and the story can be streamed on both spotify and tidal which is a lovely wee bonus. We have already listened to the album several times before bed and I think “Archie the Rainbow” will be stuck in my head for days!
Hugo is a gifted performer and, let’s face it, pretty fabulous. I would recommend this show to all kids from age 2 up to 9 /10, and their parents as I thoroughly enjoyed it too.
My mini reviewer said “I loved all the weathers and the songs but I loved the rainbow the most”
