Septemberfest – Broughton High School Saturday 24th September

There promises to be food stalls, Samba bands, a magician, hula hooping, arcade games, balloon creations, Taekwondo and Judo and a craft fair packed with homemade crafts, pocket money toys and baking. Harvest Festival – Botanical Gardens 17th and 18th September

68d843843aThis weekend looks great, and especially this wee festival taking place at the Edinburgh Royal Botanic Gardens which are always lovely to visit !

The Harvest festival is taking place on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th September from 1-4pm both days.

The annual Harvest Festival is a celebration of the vegetable growing year. Join them for fun activities, gardening advice, information about harvesting, cooking and storing crops, tasters and more.

Be inspired to get growing with their community garden produce show and discover the delights of growing your own vegetables with the Edible Gardening Project team.The festival is free to attend and features the following :

  • Storyteller Mrs Mash
  • Scotland the Bread
  • Pulse harvest
  • Vegetable growing advice
  • Fun family activities
  • Around the world in 80 plants tour with Stephen Barstow (Sat 2pm)

Duck Racing !!! Sunday 11th

The fun just keeps on coming ! This weekend looks great with the Gorgie Farm Festival on Saturday and a Duck Race on Sunday down in Leith :

Run by the Water of Leith Conservation Trust, this is their 5th Great Water of Leith DUCK RACE & Funday! Held at the Water of Leith visitor centre…

Join the spectacle, adopt a duck and win fantastic prizes!
Yellow Duck Race – £2 per duck
Tickets on sale from August to win a Michelin Starred Lunch and vouchers to dine out along the river.
Blue Duck Race – £1 per duck
 Buy on the day for a better chance of winning tickets to top Edinburgh Attractions – ideal family days out.


Reservoir Duck Race
Malt Whisky and Champagne are among the prizes for this race of Giant Ducks. Watch Mr Blue, Mr White, Mr Pink etc race and have a go at the sweepstake.

Funday starts at 2pm, races from 3pm.

Gorgie Farm Festival Saturday 10th September

CCI08252016So, after the threat of closure, and fundraising an amazing £100,000 in just six weeks, Gorgie City Farm is having it’s annual Farm Fest ! And there will be plenty to celebrate this year I’m sure…

The Farm Fest is taking place on Saturday 10th September, from 11am-4pm and activities include:
Face painting,
Activity workshops,
Traditional games,
A Fire Engine Visit
Animal Handling

Live music includes: Their very own Ceri Burgess
Edinburgh University Brass Band
Castle Chorus choir
and many more
Pet Lodge Cuddle Corner– opportunity to cuddle their smaller fluffy residents –
Session 1 – 11:30- 12:45pm
Session 2 – 2-3:15pm

Also local breweries serving up cold, refreshing beer from 1-4pm.

Dress to impress, a prize will be given to the best farm themed costume!

This looks fantastic -Will be a great day out for all !!

Tea in the Park -Saturday 3rd September

Tomorrow there’s an exciting event happening in Braidburn Valley Park – Tea In the Park ! From 2pm until 4.30pm.

This year’s attractions include the Edinburgh Bootcamp which comes with Obstacle Course and children’s games. The Vikings of Din Eidyn will be out in strength this year with a full battle force as well as other Viking pursuits. Morningside School of Music, Magic Ian and Angela Watson – School of Dance will entertain. Plus all the usual fun – Crafts and activities, raft building and racing. Not to forget the Famous and Original Duck Race and a host of stalls including bar and home baking -there will also be the Infamous dog show !
